Scarecrow Graham Crackers

Last year, I decided to be politically correct and gave out individually-packaged string cheese instead of the usual sugar-laden candies to the tricksters who came knocking at our door on ghouls night. Well, my well-intentioned healthier treats were a complete fail and ended up as breaded mozzarella sticks.

This year, however, I am upping my trick or treat game. I will be stocking up on chocolates and I just might make a batch of Halloween party poppers or these Scarecrow graham crackers to give out. This Halloween, we’ll definitely be the coolest house on the block. 🙂

How to Make Scarecrow Graham Crackers

Scarecrow Graham Cracker supplies: graham crackers, candy eyes, candy corn, mini Wheaties and melted chocolate.

Materials

  • Graham crackers
  • Cocoa candy melts
  • Candy eyes
  • Shredded mini wheats
  • Candy corn
  • Parchment paper
  • Decorating bag

Directions

In a small microwave-safe bowl, add 2 cups of cocoa candy melts and heat in the microwave on 50% power for about 3 to 4 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until melted.

Fill the decorating bag with the melted chocolate and cut a tiny tip of the end.

Begin by sticking candy corn on graham crackers to resemble a scarecrow nose.

Gently break the graham crackers in half width wise.

Apply a small amount of melted chocolate on the back of a piece of candy corn and place with pointed side down onto the bottom center of the graham cracker, pressing down to adhere.

Draw the scarecrow hat on parchment paper with melted chocolate.

Draw hats onto a piece of parchment paper, the bottom being the length of a graham cracker and transfer to the freezer for 5 minutes to harden.

Allow chocolate hats to chill in the freezer for 5 minutes.

Apply a small amount of melted chocolate on the back bottom of the hats and carefully stick onto the top of the scarecrow grahams.
