Spooky Spider Rice Krispies Treats are the perfect Halloween snack or party treat. So fun to make as they are to eat!
Are you ready for Halloween fun? I hope you are because this week on the blog will be all about spooky crafts and party treats! We have these Scarecrow graham crackers to kick off the series and tons more of creepy cool stuff to come so make sure to check back here often.
I know I did it sort of backward, having started with Christmas content early this month when it’s still 4 long months away and October 31st is just around the corner. What can I say? Christmas is my favorite holiday of all and Halloween comes as a close second. 🙂
Spooky Spider Rice Krispies Treats so easy to make, most of the work is preparing the pan of Rice Krispies treats which in itself takes only a few minutes in the microwave. After the Rice Krispies treats are cooled and cut into shapes, peanut butter cups, a few lines of melted chocolate for the legs, and candy eyes complete the more-cute-than-creepy spiders.
Get the kiddos involved, they’ll have a blast putting them together! And make sure to make a big batch as they’re sure to be a hit with kids and adults alike.
How to Make Spooky Spider Rice Krispies Treats
Ingredients
- 10 oz bag miniature marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 3 tablespoons softened butter
- Miniature Reese’s cups
- 2 cups light cocoa Wilton candy melts
- Candy eyes
- Decorating bag
Instructions
Prepare the Rice Krispies treats. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine marshmallows and butter and heat in the microwave for 1 to 2 minutes or until puffy. Stir until blended.
Add the Rice Krispies cereal to the marshmallow mixture and using a wooden spoon, stir until cereal is evenly coated. Transfer into a lightly greased 9 x 13 baking pan and press firmly. Let the Rice Krispies cool for a few hours.
Using a circle cookie cutter, cut out Rice Krispies into circle shapes and place in single layer on parchment-lined baking sheet.
In a microwave-safe bowl, heat candy melts in the microwave on 50% power for about 2 to 3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until melted. Scoop melted chocolate into a decorating bag and cut a small tip off the end of the bag.
Unwrap peanut butter cup and apply a small amount of the chocolate on the top of the cup. Stick onto the center of each Rice Krispies treat, carefully pressing to secure.
Using the decorating bag, draw legs starting from Reese’s cup and onto the Rice Krispie treat.
Apply a small amount of melted chocolate onto the back of two candy eyes and attach to the top edge of the peanut butter chocolate cup, carefully pressing to adhere.

These looks so cute and easy enough to make! Is it possible to re-use the leftover rice krispie & marshmallow dough?
